The library of the G.V. Kurdyumov Institute for Metal Physics of the N.A.S. of Ukraine was founded in 1946 on the base of the Metal Physics Laboratory, A.S. of the Ukrainian S.S.R. In 1955, it was renamed to the scientific and technical library of the Institute for Metal Physics of A.S. of the Ukrainian S.S.R. The present-day name of the library was received in 1996. The library holding is multisectorial. It holds more than 117 thousands of volumes. Over 35% of editions are of foreign languages. The library depository keeps about 400 titles of national and foreign journals. In addition to contemporary editions, the library archive keeps personal libraries and books’ collections of the leading scientists of the G.V. Kurdyumov Institute for Metal Physics of the N.A.S. of Ukraine. According to its directivity (physical research), the servicing of the researchers and scientific specialists is of first priority.
Services
All the employees of the Institute have a right to use the reader’s cards. The employees of other institutions can be serviced at the library-reading hall. The library holding is formed with the editions according to the main directions of the professional activity of the Institute as follow:

- from 9:00 to 16:00 (Monday–Thursday)
- from 9:00 to 15:00 (Friday)
- from 12:30 to 13:30 (lunch break)
Every last workday of every month is a clean-up day, and the readers are not serviced.
