Due to the conduction of the activities on researching of the elementary composition of liquid and hard materials and searching out for the practical application of the alloys with shape memory a group of researchers dealing with study of physical-and-chemical methods of materials` composition was organized in the structure of the Spectroscopy of a Solid Department in 1982. The senior engineer V.V. Didyk was the head of this group. 

The Elementary Analysis Laboratory (46) was founded in June, 1, 1995 on the base of the group of researchers dealing with study of physical-and-chemical methods of materials` composition of the Spectroscopy of a Solid Department and a group of researchers of the Phase Equilibriums Department. V.V. Didyk had been heading the Laboratory up to 2010. Now V.V. Burtsev is in charge of the Laboratory.
