Nanosized calcium hydroxyapatite (CHA) activated with Eu3? ions is prepared by precipitation from aqueous solution and sol–gel method. The average particle size of the sample prepared by precipitation from aqueous solution is 40 nm. As revealed by luminescent spectroscopy method, the character of Eu3? distribution on calcium sites in CHA structure is determined by both the activator concentration and preparation conditions.
