Ion formation of C60 fullerene precipitated from solvents with various physical and chemical properties is investigated by matrix-free laser desorptionionization (LDI). As found from character of obtained mass spectra of fullerene, the processes of ion formation of C60 fullerene precipitated onto surface of steel substrate from N-methyl pyrrolidone (NMP), from toluene (TL), and from disulphide carbon (CS2) occur in different ways in LDI experiment. As found out, the presence of NMP solvent molecules in precipitated fullerene film induces photopolymerization of C60 fullerene. As revealed, the formation of fullerene derivative structures such as [120?2n]? and [180?2n]+ in ion source of mass spectrometer is attributed to fullerene precipitated from toluene, whereas precipitation from CS2 suppresses formation of such structures.
