Technological process for formation of field emission cathode arrays with necessary diameter and step arrangement based on porous anodic alumina matrixes and carbon nanotubes has been investigated. Shape of field emission cathodes were made by using photolithography methods on surface of porous anodic alumina and perform of cylindrical column arrays with diameter from 10 to 50 mkm, step location 100 and 160 mkm and 2 mkm high. During synthesis carbon nanotubes were localized inside pores and on the surface of anodic alumina region with obtaining of two nanotube types. Nanotubes on the surface of anodic alumina have multiwall structures, but nanotubes inside pores use ele-ments of anodic alumina probably with carbide formation. Field emission investigation show homogeneous electron emission from cathodes surface which proceed in accordance with Fowler–Nordheim theory. Developed construction allow eliminate of shielding effect caused by short distance between nanotubes synthesized into porous anodic alumina matrixes.
