The time-resolved photoluminescence spectra of Pb1?xCdxJ2 solid solutions with layered crystal structure at 4.2 K and 300 K are investigated. The structure in the short-wavelength spectral range is revealed. It is caused by the emission of free excitons in the PbJ2 clusters of various sizes. Such nanoclusters are dispersed in the crystal matrix. As shown, the wide photoluminescence band near 2.0 eV is possibly caused by the emission of excitons autolocalized near nanoclusters.
