Within the long-wave approach, the problem of occurrence of additional surface plasmon resonances in layered nanoparticles of the ellipsoidal and spherical shape under electromagnetic irradiation is considered. The cases of two-layer particles with a metal kernel and a metal shell are thoroughly investigated. In an optical range, the influence of kernel bulk fraction on the absorption spectra of electromagnetic radiation is investigated for a spherical particle with a silver kernel and gold shell.
