The anatase/brookite nanocomposite with the value of the specific surface area of about 320 m2/g and the primary particles’ sizes ??10 nm is obtained by sol–gel method based on the hydrolysis of TiCl4. The resulting material is tested as a base for cathode composition of lithium power sources. The structural changes of cathode material after discharge are analysed, and a model interpreting the experimental results is proposed.
