Non-equilibrium Green’s functions method within the matrix presentation is considered and applied to model transport problems for 1D and 2D conductors using a parameterized nearest-neighbour tight-binding model with orthogonal basis within the scope of the ‘bottom–up’ approach of nanoelectronics. General method to account for electrical contacts within the Schrodinger equation to solve the quantum electronic-transport problems is formulated.
