The theoretical foundation of the modern crystallography of real single crystals with a complex basis is created; it takes into account the presence of various structural defects and provides the self-consistent description of coherent and dif-fuse components of diffraction patterns from such crystals. Complex structure factors and Fourier components of polariza-bility of а perfect gadolinium–gallium garnet (GGG) crystal (Gd3Ga5O12) are calculated for the set of reflections and two characteristic x-ray wavelengths. The dependences of these diffraction parameters on concentrations of antisite defects and vacancies are investigated. The characteristics of both point and microdefects as well as corresponding diffraction parameters of the investigated GGG single crystal are deter-mined, analysing the measured rocking curves with use of the formulas of the statistical dynamical theory of diffraction in imperfect crystals.
