Diamond-like carbon (DLC) films and hybrid films of diamond-like carbon with organic polymers (DLC–p-h) are studied by the methods of Raman light scattering (RLS) and nanoindentation. According to RLS data, diamond-like carbon films are tetrahe-dral amorphous carbon (ta-C), and hybrid coating may be as-signed to hydrated tetrahedral amorphous carbon (ta-C:H). For the case of excitation by the light with 257 nm wavelength (UV–RLS), the percentage of sp3 bonds in diamond-like carbon films comprises from 40% to 50 %, depending on a sample. In hybrid films, the share of sp3 bonds is ? 20%. These data are in a good agreement with measured hardness and Young’s modulus.
