Influence of the iron oxide on a polymorphic state and thin structure of cubic solid solutions of (ZrO2)0.9(Y2O3)0.1?x(Fe2O3)x system is studied. As revealed, the Fe3? ions are located in the octahedral sites of ZrO2 structure, and Fe2O3 limit solubility in the investigated section of ternary system is 2 mol.%. As shown, Fe2O3 is not a stabilizer of high-temperature ZrO2 modifications, however, essentially increases efficiency of Y2O3 as the structure stabilizer due to possible formation of Y–Fe–O compound, which is isomorphous to c-ZrO2.
