«Influence of Silica with Different Nature of Surface on Structure Forming in Polypropylene–Copoliamide System»
225–236 (2009)

PACS numbers: 62.23.Pq, 81.05.Lg, 81.05.Rm, 81.07.Pr, 81.16.Dn, 81.70.Pg, 83.80.Sg

Using techniques of viscosimetry, optical microscopy with statistical analysis of microstructures and differential thermal analysis, influence of nanoscale silica of hydroxylated and methylated surfaces on rheological properties and structure-forming processes is studied. As revealed, the nanoscale silica influences parameters of melting and crystallization in extrudates of polymer mixtures. As shown, the nanoscale silica with surface-grafted dimethyl groups makes greater impact on fibre-forming in polypropylene–copolyamide mixtures due to affinity of its surface for polypropylene. For fabrication of polypropylene fibres with improved characteristics, optimal content of mixtures and extrusion conditions are determined. As inferred, the introduction of nanoscale silicas into polypropylene–copolyamide mixture is effective way to regulate fibre-forming process.
