The thermal evolution of absolute density and polymorphic transformations of finely dispersed silicon dioxide obtained by sol—gel method from tetraethoxysilane are studied for various environments and nature of DCCA additive. The nature of reaction environment (organic solvent) on the stage of SiO2 fabrication is one of the most important parameters for control of both the polymorphic transformations and the density evolution of SiO2 during the thermal treatment up to 1573 K.
