Analysis of Certain Standardization Problems in the Field of Nanotechnology

1297–1314 (2025)

PACS numbers: 06.20.F-, 06.20.fb, 61.46.-w, 61.48.-c, 68.37.-d, 73.22.-f, 81.07.-b

Up-to-date information on the stages of the life cycle of standards of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) on nanotechnology is analysed. The results of the analysis of the list of new ISO standards on nanotechnologies and their scope, which were published in 2020–2024, are presented. The analysis of the current national regulatory documents of Ukraine in the field of nanotechnology is carried out. The results of the analysis for convenient familiarization and effective use of standards are structured and systematized. Some attention is focused on justifying the harmonization of national regulations with the new ISO standards on terminology and definition of concepts to facilitate communication in this area. The problems, which arise on the way of adoption of international standards as national normative documents, are considered. As substantiated for a unified understanding and definition of the key terms of the ISO 80004 series of standards on nanotechnologies, it is advisable to adopt the relevant international standards in Ukraine by translation. The problems of organizational issues related to the popularization of standardization, development, verification, and application of regulatory documents in the field of nanotechnology are considered. In order to organize and carry out work on international, regional, and national standardizations in the field of nanotechnology, it is proposed to create an appropriate technical committee for standardization in Ukraine. The justification for the expediency of using international and national regulatory documents during certain works and scientific research for the development of products, processes and services in the field of nanotechnology and related activities is provided.
