The SPA Lab works in two main directions of superconducting research: the investigation of the fundamental physical properties of high temperature superconductors and related compounds (ARPES unit); and the development of high-end large scale HTSC applications which utilize the peculiarities of magnetic flux dynamics in HTSC (Levitation unit).

Levitation:

  • Macroscopic magnetic properties of HTSC: vortex matter, magnetic flux dynamics, AC losses, pinning.
  • Levitation based experimental techniques: PM-HTSC system, levitation force measurements, high-speed magnetic rotor, new techniques development.
  • Large scale applications of HTSC: superconducting bearings, flywheels, MAGLEV.
